“For me, the groove is the beating heart of each song,” Ari explains, “dictated by the emotional energy of the story rather than conforming to genre expectations.” Her upcoming release, “The Art of Seduction,” showcases groovy, energetic percussion that builds in intensity, while her debut single, “Stop Playing,” employs experimental tempo changes to create a dreamlike atmosphere.
Ari produces most of her songs in her room using her voice for a lot of the sound design along with found sound to construct immersive sonic landscapes aiming not just to tell stories but to immerse listeners in experiences.
“My favorite quote about songwriting is from Yip Harburg who said ‘Words make you think. Music makes you feel. A song makes you feel a thought’ I believe there is an opportunity to expand on that sentiment with music production, especially when you allow it to play an active part in the storytelling. Production can take you beyond feeling a thought to experiencing a moment by painting the vivid world around it. Ultimately, lyrics, music and production are tools and my goal is to distill personal experience into song”
Ari’s music education also took a diverse route from studying musical theater in NYC to studying EDM production in Los Angeles. Ari’s sound reflects the richness of her diverse life experience.
